Literature Text

Why are we still fighting,
For rights we should have been born with.

They say racism is over because the slaves were freed,
They say sexism is over because woman can vote,
They say homophobia is over because marriage is legalized,
But it's not.

Why must we fear the public eye for who we are?
For our skin color,
For our sex or gender,
For who we love.

The world needs more movers and shakers,
Not more pill takers.

The hate of the world should not consume us,
For we all bleed the same red, red blood from our wrists,
We are all members of the human race and so are created equal,
And yet do not share equal rights.

You can believe the lies they sell you,
Take the medication and fall into a dream,
Hating and fearing your neighbors,
Or you can stand up as an equal for HUMAN RIGHTS.
Don't look upon others as a lesser being because they are different than you.

YOU GO! beautifully powerful poem.

its hard to believe that this is still how the world remains. its the mind set that has been drilled in to our heads generation after generation. some one needs to say that enough is enough.

thats why this poem is beautiful;)
